Planned sequel

Initially, ‘The Breakfast Club’ was due to have a sequel, focusing on the punished students reuniting in their 30s, all being the polar opposite of how they were when sharing detention in their teens.

Hughes never brought his idea to the screen before his death in August 2009 at the age of 59.
