Goose's secret identity

Despite being one of the main characters, 'Goose's real name is never mentioned.

Even in the 2022 sequel where his tragic death plays a pivotal role in the relationship between his son, 'Rooster' (Miles Teller) and 'Maverick' (Tom Cruise) the character is never referred to as anything other than his call sign – mysterious!
