Jet troubles

To ensure the movie looked and felt as real as possible, the cast went up in real F-14s – but not every actor enjoyed their time in the sky.

Tom Cruise had a less-than stellar experience in the jet.

During his first flight, the actor's pilot, Commander Lloyd 'Bozo' Abel, performed a particularly difficult manoeuvre that left Tom reaching for the sick bag.

Cruise called 'Bozo' over the coms and said: "Bozo, didn't you see I wasn't in your rear-view mirror?"

To which he replied: "Sorry, but then again, they don't call me 'Bozo' for nothing."
