KITT was nearly TATT

KITT very nearly had a much worse name.

Initially, the car was going to be called the Trans Am Two Thousand, or TATT for short.

Eventually, it was decided to change the name to Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT).

Much like partner Michael Knight, KITT had a doppelganger called KARR (Knight Automated Roving Robot) which was voiced by Peter Cullen, the actor behind another famous talking vehicle, Optimus Prime from ‘The Transformers’ franchise.
