Where would ‘The Matrix’ be without Bullet Time?
Well, there was more to the visuals of the sci-fi trilogy than just that iconic scene.
To achieve the desired effect, the scene was shot on a green screen with a series of cameras surrounding the subject in a complete 360 degree circle. In rapid succession, the cameras took pictures that, when stitched together, allowed it to appear that the movie had paused and begun spinning around the likes of Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) fighting in mind-air.
Bullet Time went on to be parodied in the likes of ‘Scary Movie’, ‘Shrek’ and ‘The Simpsons’.
