People's 2018 Sexiest Man Alive Idris Elba has played Heimdall in Thor’ (2011), ‘Thor: The Dark World’ (2013), ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ (2015), ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ (2017), ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (2018), ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ (2022) and more recently, ‘What If...?’ (2023) as a voice actor.

Shortly before reprising his role in ‘Thor: The Dark World’, Elba, 51, had been working on ‘Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom’, which complicated his performance.

He told The Daily Telegraph: “In between takes I was stuck there, fake hair stuck on to my head with glue, this helmet, while they reset. And I’m thinking, '24 hours ago, I was Mandela.’ Then there I was, in this stupid harness, with this wig and this sword and these contact lenses. It ripped my heart out.”

He kept reprising his role in the next movies regardless.
