Terrence Howard
Terrence Howard, 54, starred in Jon Favreau’s 2008 film ‘Iron Man’ as James Rhodes - close friend of Robert Downey Jr.’s character Tony Stark.
Howard was due back in the role for the sequel and further MCU films but decided to leave the part. The reason? His pay check.
In the first film Howard’s salary was higher than Downey Jr’s, so the latter demanded for a pay raise for the second part which was not forthcoming.
Terrence said: "It turns out that the person I helped become Iron Man… when it was time to re-up for the second one, [he] took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out.”
James Rhodes was portrayed by Don Cheadle in ‘Iron Man 2’, as well as in ‘Iron Man 3’ and ongoing MCU films.
