Following the end of Christopher Nolan's 'Dark Knight' trilogy.

The announcement of the DC Extended Universe films led to a face-off Batman fans had wanted to see on the big screen for years.

In 2016, Zack Snyder brought us 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' with Ben Affleck playing an older Caped Crusader who had grown weary with the world he has been trying to protect.

It was followed in 2017 by the 'Justice League' film which brought together the DC superhero squad of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg for the first time on screen.

The year 2019 also saw the release of the 1000th issue of ‘Detective Comics,’ with Batman appearing on the cover.
