Thelma Todd (1906-1935)
The ‘Monkey Business’ actress was found dead aged just 29 on December 16, 1935. Her body was discovered in her chocolate-colored 1934 Lincoln Phaeton convertible inside the garage of Jewel Carmen, a former actress and wife of Todd's lover and business partner Roland West.
While it was determined that she died of carbon monoxide poisoning, her body showed trauma signs after being found unconscious over the steering wheel of her vehicle. At the time of her death, the Los Angeles Times reported that authorities targeted three men as potential suspects for her murder: her ex-husband Pat DiCicco, her then-partner and Mafia gangster Lucky Luciano.
However, no guilt was ever proven and her death was ruled to be accidental.
