Ramón Novarro (1899-1968)

The ‘Across To Singapore' star died aged 69 in 1968, after welcoming brothers Paul and Tom Ferguson into his Los Angeles home.

The Fergusons incorrectly believed there was a large sum of money at the property and held Novarro captive for several hours and quizzed him on the whereabouts of the cash.

They ultimately left the house with $20 they took from his bathrobe pocket, but Novarro died from his injuries.

Tom and Paul were eventually found and arrested and sentenced to life in prison.
