Tamzin Outhwaite talks 'very long journey' since eldest child came out as trans
Tamzin Outhwaite says it has been “a very long journey” since her and Tom Ellis’ eldest child Flo came out as transgender but insisted that he's now "thriving, absolutely thriving".

The EastEnders actress and the Lucifer actor – who split in 2014 – share children Flo, 17, and Marnie, 12, and Tamzin admitted life had been eventful as they navigated Flo’s gender identity.
Speaking to The Mirror, Tamzin said: “It's been a long journey, a very long journey, but we're in a great place now. I'm just happy that he's happy, and that's how I feel at the moment. He's thriving, absolutely thriving.
“I'm not allowed to talk about him [Flo]. I was only allowed to talk about him on Rob [Beckett] and Josh [Widdicombe]'s podcast, Parenting Hell, because it's his favourite podcast.
“So I was allowed to talk about him with both of those two, but I'm not allowed to talk about him anywhere else, and I respect that decision.”
Tamzin revealed last year that Flo first came out as trans and identified as a boy at the age of “about 10 or 11”.
Speaking on the Parenting Hell podcast last year, she said: “The maddest thing is that it’s not the most interesting thing about him. He’s an incredibly funny, intelligent boy. And I’m watching him grow into a wonderful human who’s very talented. And to see him thriving is just nothing but relief and joy for me, really. Because there were some dark times.
“Now we’re in a really wonderful place as a family. Flo is in a wonderful place as a brilliant actor, singer, writer, and director in his sixth form. And Marnie is thriving.”
Tamzin, 55 and Tom, 47, tied the knot in 2006 and divorced in 2014.
Tom and Tamzin had an acrimonious split and in 2023 she posted and later deleted a tweet alleging he had been unfaithful.
She wrote on X: “Ten years since the father of my kids walked out on us for the final time. I still meet new people on jobs who reveal more infidelities and lies he committed.
“But thankfully my heart and soul are clear and clean and I could not be happier right now.”
She later removed the post and explained: “Thank you all for your messages re my now deleted tweet.I was marking the 10 year anniversary with pride,a feeling of triumph genuine gratitude.
“I understand it has triggered some people. For anyone struggling, the most important relationship you will ever have is with yourself.”
Tom married screenwriter Meaghan Oppenheimer in 2019 and they welcomed a daughter together in 2023.
