Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington topped the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard on Saturday (03.10.26) night.
The former Neighbours actress and her professional partner finished second last week with 29 points but managed to go one better during Movie Week, landing a total of 30 points for their American Smooth to "I'll Never Love Again" from A Star Is Born. With the scores being combined for the two performances, their impressive 59 took them into the top spot.
Head judge Shirley Ballas hailed Delta a "force to be reckoned with", while Motsi Mabuse told the star she had a "special talent to give feeling".
She added: “You’ve got everything it takes. I believe in you."
Although John Nellis and Katya Jones had topped last week's leaderboard with 31 points, they failed to impress quite as much with what Craig Revel Horwood described as a "too heavy-footed" Couple's Choice to "An Irish Party in Third Class" from Titanic, earning just 23 points.
Lacey Turner and her partner Vito Coppola, and Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley are tied in second place, with the latter couple gaining the night's highest marks, bagging 31 for their waltz to "The Godfather Waltz" from The Godfather.
Motsi declared their performance "mesmerising", while Craig "absolutely loved it".
Lacey and Vito danced a quickstep to "I Knew It, I Knew You" from Toy Story 5, for which they were awarded 28 points, taking their total to 55.
Meanwhile, despite trailing joint bottom last weekend, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Alexis Warr had a huge turnaround to lift themselves out of the bottom this week after landing 25 points for their salsa to "You Should Be Dancing" from Saturday Night Fever.
Anton Du Beke said: "We’ll expect this every week now, Alexis spent most of it in the air, unrecognisable."
However, Craig was unimpressed and awarded the couple a four, telling Shaun: "You’re no John Travolta, darling, ploddy, stuck to the floor and no hip action whatsoever, not for me, sorry."
Melanie Walters and Aljaž Škorjanec are at the bottom of the pile, scoring the same 15 as in week one for their waltz to "Edelweiss" from The Sound of Music.
Aljaž quipped: “We choreographed the mistakes in, I’m glad the judges spotted them."
Chris Appleton and Amy Dowden sit one place above them on the leaderboard, taking 17 for their cha cha cha to "I’m Always Here" from Baywatch, earning one point more than last weekend.
The results of the public vote will be announced on Sunday (04.10.26).
