Tamzin Outhwaite finding dating hard
Tamzin Outhwaite is having a hard time dating since she split from Tom Child in 2024.
Tamzin Outhwaite is struggling to date.
The 55-year-old actress cannot wrap her head around how much the dating landscape has changed since she divorced Miranda actor Tom Ellis, 47, in 2014 after eight years of marriage, and split from filmmaker Tom Child, 35, in 2024 after almost seven years together.
Tamzin explained in the new issue of Bella magazine: "I haven't been in the dating scene for a good couple of years. I don't know how you do it at my age.
"When we were young, we used to go to the pub with our friends, have a couple of drinks, and that's how you dated, but now everyone's on an app."
The EastEnders alum - who played Mel Owen in the BBC soap on and off from 1998 until 2019 - experimented with dating apps, but, ultimately, ditched them as they proved too confusing for her.
Tamzin revealed: "I tried it, then I just came off it because I had no idea how to work them. I have no idea how to navigate that."
The New Tricks star thinks she is living a more exciting life since she entered her 50s in 2020.
Tamzin explained: "This is the second part of my life, the beginning of the second part. And this is actually more exciting, more liberating, more powerful. And I'm happier."
Life has recently been eventful for The Wives alum since her and Tom's eldest child, Flo, came out as transgender.
Earlier this month, Tamzin told The Mirror: "It's been a long journey, a very long journey, but we're in a great place now. I'm just happy that he's happy, and that's how I feel at the moment. He's thriving, absolutely thriving.
"I'm not allowed to talk about him [Flo]. I was only allowed to talk about him on Rob [Beckett] and Josh [Widdicombe]'s podcast, Parenting Hell, because it's his favourite podcast.
"So I was allowed to talk about him with both of those two, but I'm not allowed to talk about him anywhere else, and I respect that decision.”
In July 2025, the entertainer - who also has daughter Marnie, 13, with Tom Ellis - revealed that actor Flo came out as a boy when he was "about 10 or 11".
Tamzin told Rob Beckett, 40, and Josh Widdicombe, 43, on an episode of the comedians' Parenting Hell podcast: "The maddest thing is, I suppose, is that it's not the most interesting thing about him.
"He's an incredible, incredibly funny, intelligent boy. And I'm watching him grow into a wonderful human who's very talented. And to see him thriving is just nothing but relief and joy for me, really. Because there were some dark times."
