Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
John Hughes’ beloved teen classic celebrates 40 years in 2026.
In the 1986 movie, Matthew Broderick stars as Ferris, a charismatic high-schooler who skips school for a perfect day in Chicago with his best friend Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck) and girlfriend Sloane Peterson (Mia Sara).
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off quickly became one of the most iconic teen comedies of all time, and a spinoff titled Sam and Victor’s Day Off - which would have followed the two valets who took Ferris’ Ferrari on a joyride - was in the works before Paramount ultimately shelved it.
