Sticking with Tom Cruise, his high-flying blockbuster hits its 40th anniversary this year!

The actor plays hotshot Navy pilot Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, whose cocky attitude puts him at odds with other pilots as he tries to get the attention of his flight instructor Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis).

The 1986 film also starred Val Kilmer as Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky, Anthony Edwards as Nick ‘Goose’ Bradshaw, and Tim Robbins as Sam ‘Merlin’ Wells.

Following its 2022 sequel Top Gun: Maverick, director Joseph Kosinski has confirmed he is working on a third entry in the jet-fuelled series, with Cruise’s iconic pilot set to take to the skies once again.
