Taylor Swift and her cat make surprise appearance

Taylor Swift was not at the ceremony in Los Angeles but she and her cat featured in a pre-taped sketch alongside Mariska Hargitay.

The host appeared in character as her Law and Order: Special Victims Unit alter ego Olivia Benson (whom Taylor named her feline after) and told her colleagues to "think like Swifties" to determine whether the Opalite hitmaker would be at the Emmys.

As the sketch played on Taylor's love of Easter eggs, the pop superstar walked into the room in a grey suit and said: "Hey guys, this isn't adding up."

Taylor actually spent the evening watching her husband Travis Kelce in NFL action for the Kansas City Chiefs.
