Shirley Bassey: Goldfinger (1964)
The Bond anthem that started it all. Welsh powerhouse Dame Shirley Bassey delivered Goldfinger with such intensity that she nearly fainted mid-recording. She said: “I was going blue in the face … when it finished, I nearly passed out."
The film starred the late Sean Connery, and Bassey’s performance turned her into an icon overnight. She later returned for Diamonds Are Forever (1971) and Moonraker (1979), becoming the only artist to record three Bond themes.
