While the space pirate Lone Starr is one of Bill Pullman’s most iconic roles, the actor wasn’t the first choice for the character.

In fact, Pullman said he was the third choice, with both Tom Cruise and Tom Hanks being offered the Han Solo-esque lead before both turned it down - allowing him to swoop in and take the part.
