Super Mario Bros.
While the 1993 movie adaptation wasn’t received well, Nintendo’s second go at bringing Mario to the big screen 30 years later fared much better.
‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ followed the iconic Italian plumber (Chris Pratt) and his brother Luigi (Charlie Day) as the pair tried to rescue Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) from the clutches of Bowser (Jack Black) and save Mushroom Kingdom.
The 2023 animated flick is due to receive a sequel from Universal Pictures, with Keegan-Michael Key - who voices Toad in the first movie - teasing there would be some “really deep cuts” for fans of the franchises in the second film.
He said: “One thing I can say about the second movie is that it's a little broader in scope, and where it takes place is very intriguing lore and the Mario world.
“They're going to find some really fantastic Easter eggs and it's been very exciting so far.”
