Django Unchained
Action-packed, thrilling and masterfully told, Tarantino’s first attempt at a Western with ‘Django Unchained’ rightly garnered an 87 per cent rating on the movie website.
The 2012 flick is set in 1858 Texas where the slave trade thrives, and follows Jamie Foxx in the title role as he is freed by bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) and goes on a mission to save his wife Bromhilda von Schaft (Kerry Washington) from a plantation run by the despicable Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his sinister servant Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson).
‘Django Unchained’ remains Tarantino’s highest-grossing film to date, and earned $426 million globally.
The film was also nominated for five Oscars at the 85th Academy Awards - including Best Picture - and won two for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Christoph Waltz.
