The Hateful Eight
Next up is Tarantino’s 2015 Western ‘The Hateful Eight’, which was awarded 74 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Featuring several familiar faces from Tarantino’s filmography - including Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, and Kurt Russell - ‘The Hateful Eight’ follows a group of strangers seeking shelter from a blizzard during the American Civil War.
While the film received praise for its performances, score, and direction, some audiences criticised ‘The Hateful Eight’ for its lacklustre plot.
Interestingly, ‘The Hateful Eight’ started out its life as a sequel to ‘Django Unchained’, and would have brought back Jamie Foxx’s titular bounty hunter as one of the mysterious strangers who get trapped in a cabin during a snowstorm - though Tarantino ultimately decided to scrap the idea to make the 2015 flick its own thing.
