As his health continued to worsen, Elvis’ interest in making new music began to wane, with it being reported at the time the singer was becoming increasingly “impossible to understand”.

In 1977, Elvis released what would be the last single in his lifetime ‘Way Down’, and was thought to be on the mend by the time he gave his final performance at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis on 26 June 1977.
