Musical failure
Even though Elvis is undoubtedly one of the most iconic and revered musicians of all time, he wasn't considered a talented musician whilst at school.
In fact, Elvis failed music, with the subject being the only one he didn't pass.
However, that didn’t stop him, and he joined Memphis Recording Service - the company run by Sam Phillip - shortly after graduating from school.
Soon after, Elvis teamed up with guitarist Winfield ‘Scotty’ Moore and upright bass player Bill Black for a recording session, and in that moment, a star was born.
Moore recounted: “All of a sudden, Elvis just started singing this song, jumping around and acting the fool, and then Bill picked up his bass, and he started acting the fool, too, and I started playing with them.”
