Original title
Before ‘Scream’ got its iconic title, the movie was initially called ‘Scary Movie’.
However, producers Bob and Harvey Weinstein changed the title after being inspired by Michael and Janet Jackson’s 1995 song ‘Scream’.
Bob later said: “Michael Jackson had a song out, and Harvey's listening to it, and of course the song was ‘Scream’.”
Initially, director Wes Craven wasn’t a fan of the new name, though eventually accepted ‘Scream’ as the title.
As for ‘Scary Movie’, that name was later used for the 2000 horror parody, which spoofs the events of ‘Scream’.
