Sequel dismissal
Considering how exceptionally well ‘Seven’ did at the box office, New Line Cinema were unsurprisingly keen to get a sequel in the works.
Initially, the studio took the script for ‘Solace’ - which followed a psychic investigating it for a series killer - and wrote in Detective Somerset, though the idea never amounted to anything, and instead released as its own movie in 2015 starring Sir Anthony Hopkins.
When asked if he would be open to appearing in a sequel to ‘Seven’, Morgan Freeman insisted he was not interested at all.
As for David Fincher, the director was even less enthusiastic about the prospect of making a follow-up flick.
He said: “I would have less interest in that than I would in having cigarettes put out in my eyes.”
