At the time, 'Total Recall' was one of the most expensive films in Hollywood history, costing upwards of $80 million, and so had its work cut out to become a box office success.

Even so, the movie didn’t disappoint. In its opening weekend, the picture made $25.5 million in the United States and Canada alone, and ended its theatrical run with an impressive $261.4 million.
