For its technological achievements, it only made sense 'Total Recall' was honoured at the Academy Awards.

The movie was nominated for three Oscars – those being Best Sound, Best Sound Editing and the Special Achievement Award for Best Visual Effects – and left the ceremony with a statue for the latter category.

'Total Recall's Oscar win also marks the final live action movie to win the Special Achievement Award for Visual Effects.
