In 2020, the show resurfaced on Netflix and fans questioned why the show was made up of a group of white actors.

Creator Marta Kauffman later said she was "embarrassed" over her decision, noting: "Admitting and accepting guilt is not easy. It’s painful looking at yourself in the mirror. I’m embarrassed that I didn’t know better 25 years ago."
