In Season One of 'Friends', Ross has recently split up from his wife who is expecting their baby and now intending to raise it with her new partner Susan. While some fans have berated the show for being "homophobic", actress Jane Sibbett has insisted that was never the case.

She said: "We were poking fun at a person who didn’t get it, who was uncomfortable with the concept of us being together. And that was the great beauty; the great truth in that the joke is on the people that don’t get it. That this is all about love."
