The author loved it
It wasn’t just Stallone who loved the movie, as ‘First Blood’ novelist David Morrell also left the theatre happy with the finished product.
Reflecting on the film, the writer praised the lead actor for doing an “excellent job” as John Rambo, even though it strayed from the version in his book.
He said: “I thought he did an excellent job in the role. In my novel, he's very angry. In the movie, he's a victim. And so they go for these almost deer-like, woe-is-me eyes, and they communicate very well. I think on its terms, the film works very well. It's brilliantly directed. Jerry Goldsmith's music is unbeatable. It's a first-class production.”
