Nightmarish production
It’s fair to say production on ‘Jaws’ wasn’t plain sailing.
Initially, Spielberg was given $4 million to make the movie, though the budget skyrocketed to $9 million due to its troublesome production, including the faulty shark animatronics - each of which cost $250,000 to make - and its bloated running schedule.
In fact, the picture was only meant to film for 65 days, though that figure shot up to 159 because of Steven’s insistence of shooting most of the movie on the ocean, which came with endless problems.
Sailboats wandered into shots, cameras got wet and broke, and The Orca even sank!
