Where are the jaws?
Despite its title, there are very little jaws in the movie.
In fact, the terrifying shark isn’t fully visible until one hour and 21 minutes into the two-hour-long movie.
That was because the mechanical sea monster - dubbed 'Bruce' by the crew - rarely functioned properly, and so Steven Spielberg had to find solutions around the limitations of the animatronic animal.
Producer David Brown recalled: “It was very tiresome and very tedious. There were all kinds of mechanical problems with electrical polarisation in salt water. Richard Zanuck [producer] and I more than once saw our careers going to the bottom of the Atlantic while the sharks sank and frogmen were sent down to rescue them.”
