Dustin Hoffman’s Rick Deckard

Rick Deckard is one of Harrison Ford’s most well-known roles, but the actor very nearly didn’t get the part.

In fact, Dustin Hoffman had been cast in the role, and worked with Ridley Scott and the production team on the movie for months.

However, the ‘Rain Man’ star abruptly left in 1980, leading Harrison to swoop in and take the role.

The director later theorised Dustin’s departure might have been due to “something as simple as money.”
