Location change
Following the success of the Eddie Murphy buddy-cop movies ’48 Hours’ and ‘Beverly Hill Cop’, producer ABC decided they wanted a slice of that pie, and moved ’T.J. Hooker’ from Southern California to Chicago at the end of the fourth season.
With the change in location also came a change in faces, as Stacy Sheridan (Heather Locklear), Jim Corrigan (James Darren) and Vincent Romano (Adrian Zmed) no longer appeared.
However, ’T.J. Hooker’ quickly returned to California after the show was moved to CBS, with the normal cast also returning as if nothing had ever happened.
