Irréversible
Premiering in 2002, Gaspar Noé’s ‘Irréversible’ tells the story of Alex (Monica Bellucci), whose partner (Vincent Cassel) and ex-boyfriend (Albert Dupontel) take justice into their own hands after she is violated.
The nine-minute-long abuse scene, filmed in a Paris tunnel, sparked controversy for being too explicit.
Director Noé accepts he couldn't make the movie now in the same way.
He said: “Nowadays, it would be impossible to get such a movie financed […] People are afraid of being accused of misbehaving or whatever.”
