The Confederate flag was banned
During its original run, General Lee's Confederate flag - which was a symbol of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War - was not a big deal to viewers.
Modern audiences, however, would see the flag in a far more unfavourable light.
Things were made worse for 'The Dukes of Hazzard' when the South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley condemned depictions of Confederate imagery in entertainment in 2015. Warner Bros. responded quickly, and pulled all traces of the flag from General Lee's merchandise.
However, not everyone was happy. John Schneider, told The Hollywood Reporter: "Is the flag used as such in other applications? Yes, but certainly not on the Dukes ... Labelling anyone who has the flag a ‘racist’ seems unfair to those who are clearly ‘never meaning no harm.'”
