John Schneider lied in his audition

John Schneider played Bo Duke and he knew he was getting the part as soon as he walked into the audition.

Although he is a New Yorker, the actor decided to appear as 'redneck' as possible. John grew stubble, carried a can of beer and then proceeded to lie about nearly everything, which ultimately won the casting directors over.

Recalling the audition, the actor said: "I'm actually from Mt. Kisco, New York, which is in Westchester County, and when I auditioned for 'Dukes,' I told them I was from Snailville, Georgia, which doesn't exist, and I'd just graduated first in my class from the Georgia School of High Performance Driving, which also doesn't exist . But they bought it."
