Poppies will put them to sleep but the snowflakes could have killed them

In the movie, the Witch curses the poppies so the characters fall asleep. The magic snowflakes Glinda uses to reverse the spell was made out of pure asbestos!

While concerns were raised about the use of asbestos in movies in the late 1800s, the carcinogenic material wasn't banned until the 1970s.
