Toto, too?

With most of the main cast members subject to some sort of risk, Toto was no exception. Dorothy’s adorable canine companion was played by Terry.

She – yes, she – had previously starred with Shirley Temple in 'Bright Eyes' and was trained by Carl Spitz. In the scene at the Witch’s castle, on of the guards accidentally stepped on Terry, which resulted in a broken paw.

A stand-in was brought in while the terrier recovered.
