‘You can change your hair and change your clothes…’ Why the wig original designer was fired!

The primary difference between the brunette Miley and her pop star alter-ego is her long blonde wig. It was notably different in the pilot episode and evolved a further three times throughout the run of the show.

According to Miley, each wig was valued at around $10,000 and years later original hair stylist Judy Crown claimed she had fallen out with Disney bosses over her original designs.

She said: “They wanted her singer character to have big hair and so I did that and they went ‘Oh, no!’ It was not what I wanted to do, I followed their direction. They held that against me and said they wanted someone more hip with young people’s hair. I was not happy!”
