Willem Dafoe in The Last Temptation of Christ

In 1988, Willem Dafoe delivered one of the most acclaimed performances of his career playing Jesus in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Last Temptation of Christ.

In the film, the latter finds himself struggling with multiple forms of temptation, such as lust, depression and fear, among others. The religious drama earned Scorsese an Academy Award nomination for Best Director.
