Rachel Weisz
Rachel Weisz played Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan in the 1999 adventure film ‘The Mummy,’ as well as in the 2001 sequel ‘The Mummy Returns’, both directed by Stephen Sommers.
However, the actress turned down the offer to reprise her role in the 2008 third instalment, ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.’
In an interview with Heat, the latter’s director, Rob Cohen, revealed that he was contacted by Rachel’s representative back then. He said: “I got a very angry phone call from her agent, saying she'll never play the mother of a 21-year-old. I said, 'OK, good, fine, bye.'" Evelyn was instead played by Maria Bello, also known for ‘NCIS’ and ‘Coyote Ugly'.
