Cillian Murphy

Before delighting us with his ‘Peaky Blinders’ role as Thomas Shelby, Irish actor Cillian Murphy auditioned to be The Dark Knight in Christopher Nolan’s 'Batman Begins' - the first film in his trilogy - but he missed out.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Murphy said: "I don't believe I was close to landing that role. So, for me, it was just an experience.”

Nolan did see the potential for Murphy in another role and cast him as Dr. Jonathan Crane aka Scarecrow.
