‘Frasier’ actor Kelsey Grammer was nearly cast as Uncle Frank, but turned the role down.

Robert De Niro and Jon Lovitz were both offered the role of the burglar Harry Lyme, but both rejected the offer, leaving Joe Pesci to take the now iconic part.

Reflecting on his decision, Jon admitted he made a major mistake in saying no to director Chris Columbus.

The comedian said: “I didn't want to play second fiddle to some kid. Then it became the biggest comedy of all time. Oops.”
