Vicky Pattison's sister has secretly been battling cancer.
Laura received the "worst news of [her] life" eight months ago and "didn’t know if [she’d] live" after it had "spread too far", and she is now hoping to be cancer-free as Laura awaits her latest test results.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (02.09.26), Laura posted a photo of her daughter starting her new year at school, with the caption: "8 months ago I got the worst news of my life.
"I went in for an operation, only to be told they had to abandon it because my cancer had spread too far.
"I was stitched back up and made to wait two agonising weeks to find out how advanced it was and whether they could even operate.
"I didn’t know if I was even going to live to see this moment, but here I am, happy healthy and hopefully cancer free, with latest test results pending.
"You never know what’s around the corner but today I am grateful. Grateful that I got to see my gorgeous baby happily skip into her new class.
"My Mavie girl, you keep me going. I love you more than words. (sic)"
Taking to the upload's comments section, Strictly Come Dancing 2025 star Vicky, 38, penned: "Look at her man."
Laura replied: "I know so cute xx (sic)."
The post's comments section was filled with messages of support, as one follower wrote: "My goodness Laura I’m so sorry you’ve been going through this. Sending lots of love and have everything crossed for you! xxx (sic)"
A second typed: "You are a true hero to me. Forever in awe of you and your strength and I will never understand what you’ve been through, but as always you’ve done it with humour, dignity and far more grace than it deserved.
"Sending you so much love and look at little Mavie."
And a third reacted: "Oh Laura that’s brought tears to my eyes. There’s nothing stronger than a mother’s love to make you strong and keep you going. So pleased to hear you’re doing good now."
