The Ray actor and girlfriend Alyce Huckstepp, 31, are preparing to a child into the world but Jamie - who also has Corinne, 32, and Anelise, 18, from previous relationships admitted he had reservations about having a baby again later in life.
Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he said: “I got a baby on the way … still got it!
"[I'm] about to be back in the drop-off line.
"I wasn’t on the fence about it, but being 58 … you know what I’m saying?”
The Django Unchained actor - who had a stroke in 2023 - recalled feeling reassured when he ran into Al Pacino, whose former girlfriend Noor Alfallah gave birth to their son Roman in June 2023 when the Godfather star was 83.
He said: “I did run into Al Pacino, so if I was ever on the fence, I wasn’t on the fence when I talked to him. I was like, ‘Al, what’s up?’ [He said] ‘Ah, Jamie, good to see ya. I was worried about ya, Jamie.'
"[He told me] 'I’m having a baby.'
“I said, ‘Al, how old are you?’ He said, ‘84.’ I said, ‘Man, you’re gonna be 84 years old back in the drop-off line.' [He said] '84 years old, back in the drop-off line, every time I get out, they pull me back in.”
Jamie joked about ageing as his new child grows.
He quipped: “I even tell my girl, I said, ‘Look, just hang in there for 12 years.’ If I’m 58, 12 years I’ll be 70 … you’ll just put a blanket over my thighs, give me some tapioca pudding…”
The Back in Action star is feeling "fantastic" following his previous health scare but admitted it has made him a more emotional person.
He said: “I’m feeling fantastic. I went through some stuff; I didn’t know if I was gonna be back here. I cry easily, and I’m crying right now, because I didn’t think I’d see all these beautiful people [again].
“Sometimes my daughter says I’m too grateful, because I mean I almost died, so I’m just so thankful for everything."
Jamie previously explained that his daughters take priority over everything and everybody in his life.
The actor admitted that it's easy to get carried away by glitz and glamour of the movie business - but he's now firmly dedicated to his daughters.
He told Access Hollywood: "You interview a lot of people who are in this crazy business and consistently trying to keep their family as normal as they can … I used to be a guy that was dedicated to the Hollywood [mentality of] 'Let's have fun all the time.' But now everything I do I consistently think of my two daughters."
