Will Best was hit with a double insult on his first day of rehearsals for Strictly Come Dancing.

The 41-year-old TV presenter said two female professional dancers from the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance show compared his "dancing face" to 64-year-old actor Jim Carrey's exaggerated expressions in the 1994 comedy-action film, The Mask.

On Monday's (17.08.26's) edition of the Hits Radio Breakfast Show, Will told his 38-year-old co-host Fleur East, came runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 and formerly hosted its weekly companion show, It Takes Two, that their first day on August 14 was "really sweet".

He added: "All the team, the producers, did little speeches talking about how it’s a big family and everyone’s really nice, and it did feel like that.

"I learnt a lot about myself in terms of how I dance - it’s obviously the first day I’d done any ballroom dancing, and the pros were there, and we were doing little dance masterclasses with them."

The Big Brother host said Strictly Come Dancing bosses assessed "the chemistry" between the celebs and the professional dancers to decide pairings.

Will added: "And all the male celebs would stand in a circle facing outwards. The female pros would dance with each of you really quickly for a few seconds, a few bars, and then they move on to the next person going round in these circles."

But Will's "dancing face" was soon mocked by two female professional dancers.

He continued: "Two of the female pros commented on my 'dancing face,' I didn’t realise that I dance more with my face than with my legs.

"Two of them separately and unprompted said, 'It’s like dancing with Jim Carrey in The Mask.' Two of them said the exact same thing!"

Will is one of 15 celebrities competing for the coveted Glitterball Trophy on this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing.

EastEnders icon Lacey Turner, 38, Neighbours alum Delta Goodrem, 41, Love Island alums Cach Mercer, 25, and 30-year-old Dani Dyer - who withdrew last year due to an ankle injury - and 43-year-old celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton join him.

Paralympian Dame Sarah Storey, 48, Babs actress Jaime Winstone, 41, football player-turned-pundit Shaun Wright-Phillips, 44, and House of the Dragon's Bethany Antonia, 28, are also taking to the dance floor.

Completing the line-up are dog trainer Graeme Hall, 60, Emmerdale actor Lawrence Robb, 34, Olympic skeleton gold medallist Tabby Stoecker, 25, YouTube star John Nellis, 33, and 64-year-old Gavin and Stacey star Melanie Walters.

The new series of Strictly Come Dancing starts in September.
