Will Best is paying back Fleur East "a pound per week for the rest of [his] life" after he lost a "million-pound" bet.

The duo, as well as comedian James Barr, play a daily game with callers on their Hits Radio Breakfast show, and Will used the common idiom off-air to singer Fleur as he was adamant that the listener answered correctly amid everyone else disagreeing.

Appearing on the latest episode of the Spent podcast, he told 40-year-old host Matt Edmondson: "We play a game on the radio every day, and somebody gave an answer on this game that we were playing, and I thought they were right.

"The others thought they were wrong. And I said, this was off-air, I said to Fleur, I bet you a million pounds that this guy said this exact word.

"And she said, 'He definitely didn't.' And I said, 'I bet you a million.' So I got up, I went around, I shook her hand. I said, 'I bet you now a million pounds.'"

However, Will, 41, was proved wrong after Fleur, 38, got the show's producer to replay the listener's answer.

He continued: "And so I set up a payment plan, and I'm paying Fleur East a pound a week for the rest of my life. And it comes out every Tuesday."

And Will's fiancee, stylist Tobi Rose, is not happy.

He added: "And every Wednesday, my girlfriend says, 'Please tell me you've cancelled the pound a week payment to Fleur East because that's just a complete waste of money. That's £55 a year. That's going to add up. That's ridiculous.'"

And Will's "ridiculous" spending does not stop there, as he splashed out £380 on a mini model of a home that can be used to "experiment with different potential layouts" for furniture and rooms.

However, the Big Brother presenter joked that the "Lego"-like but "less user-friendly" item was "completely useless" and a "complete shambles" when it arrived.

Will explained to Matt: "It's impossible to work out the scale of everything. The board isn't big enough, and yet it is also too big. It doesn't fit on a table.

"I wanted to do the layout of the whole ground floor, so I had to stick all these bits like a giant jigsaw, which could only fit on the floor. The dog [Sandwich] is picking up bits of wood and trotting off with them. Nothing seemed to fit together.

"You're trying to pop little bits of wood out, and then you lose them, and then you're getting splinters. And it was a complete shambles, and the whole thing cost."

The star admitted that he and Tobi had "quite a big argument" over the fact that he had wasted £380.

Will said: "She was like, 'Why have you bought this?' And I was like, 'No, I thought it'd be good.' She was like, 'It's very weighty. How much did this cost?' Because this is, obviously, not only a waste of money, it's a waste of space.

"It's like four boxes of this stuff. She's like, 'We're moving house, we don't want to be carrying all this rubbish around with us.' And I said, 'It was on offer, I got a deal.'

"It was £380. And she got really cross, and it was, actually, one of the most serious discussions we've had about money.

"She was like, 'We've bought a house, we're starting the next phase of our lives together, we're getting married, and it worries me that you're such an idiot. That you would spend that much money on something so obviously useless.'"
