Actor Sunny Deol has reportedly landed a big money deal to star in a sequel to his 1997 film Border following the hug success of Gadar 2

Sunny Deol has reportedly landed a big money deal to star in a sequel to his 1997 film 'Border'.
The actor starred in the epic movie about the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War and rumours about plans for a sequel have been swirling for more than a decade, but now it's has been reported that 'Border 2' is moving ahead with Sunny onboard after he reportedly agreed a lucrative contract to reprise his role as Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri.
A movie insider told Bollywood Hungama: "The upfront fees of Rs. 50 crores aside, Sunny has also struck a back-end deal wherein he will get some share from the profits earned by producers. Sunny deserves this as his presence can take 'Border' to new heights and the producers were more than happy to ink this deal with Sunny."
The deal is believed to have been struck following the huge success of Sunny's other sequel 'Gadar 2'. The actor reunited with his co-star Ameesha Patel to bring the story back to the big screen more than two decades after the release of the original movie 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' in 2001.
'Gadar 2' director Anil Sharma has even declared he wants the movie to be considered as a submission for the 2024 Academy Awards' Best International Feature Film category.
According to Hindustantimes.com, Sharma said: "People are calling me repeatedly to send the film to the Oscars. 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' didn’t go, so I don’t know how 'Gadar 2' will go, but we are at it. "But 'Gadar 2' should go; the film deserves it. 'Gadar' also deserved it. 'Gadar' was based on the 1947 partition, and we told the story in a very different way. It was a new and original story, and 'Gadar 2' is also a new and original story."
