Sunny Deol didn't want his son Rajveer Deol to follow him into acting.

Movie veteran Sunny is the son of actor/producer Dharmendra - who is considered one of the most successful Hindi movie stars of all time - and despite carving out a 40-year career in the industry himself, Sunny didn't want his son Rajveer to follow him into the family business.

According to PTI, Rajveer - who is making his Bollywood debut in new film 'Dono' - said at the film's trailer launch: "It’s because this industry is so unpredictable. You are happy for a second and [feel] miserable the next. In fact, my father got a hit [Gadar 2)] after 22 years. But unfortunately, I fell in love with acting ... I felt one could just disguise themselves in the characters. So, this is what I wanted to do."

However, once they realised Rajveer was determined to become an actor, his family had some helpful advice for him.

Rajveer added: "My family advised me to work hard. They told me not to be a star and become an actor first as the characters will get more work and that is what I want to do."

The actor insisted he chose a romance movie for his first major project because he doesn't want to get stuck playing roles similar to those played by his dad and grandfather. He went on to say: "Like, they would expect me to choose to beat 100 people up, scream, and have a big body. I was in love with the craft and I love acting. I notice if I get typecasted in that, then it is not a good idea. It is important to have your own individual stamp in this industry."

Sunny's other son Karan has also gone into acting with roles 2019's 'Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas' and 2021's 'Velle'.
